Urbanguard

The project aimed to facilitate the incorporation of urban sustainability indicators into the spatial planning process in Cyprus.  Firstly, the project aimed to select appropriate sustainability indicators and secure the mutual agreement of competent government agencies and local authorities for their successful implementation.

The necessary capabilities and system tools were created within the competent authorities for the monitoring and reporting of these indicators and for their application within the urban policy decision making process.  The project also promoted environmental reporting as required by the EU through the implementation of the 6th Environment Program.
